Next in our Five Minutes With interview series, we speak with Kathy Taylor, the Manager of the Clacton-on-Sea branch of Manorcourt Homecare:
How is everyone coping at your branch?
We are all coping really well. There has been a general nervousness regarding the situation that is facing us all but overall it is ‘business as usual’ and it is all about the care for us in Clacton.
How are you boosting carers’ morale?
It’s so important to make sure that everyone is aware of just how appreciated they are. I think it’s important to praise staff. We send group texts to keep everyone connected, send memos with thanks. Plus, we always make sure there is plenty of coffee and thanks for when they come into the branch.
How are you keeping your customers spirits raised when you visit?
Bless my staff; they always go to work with a smile no matter what, nothing is too much trouble. They have supported customers with cleaning up when cleaners haven’t been able to visit, and giving them extra time. They really go the extra mile with many collecting shopping for them too. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. Our customers are very appreciative.
How have families and the local community been supporting you at this time?
We have had our local school, Coastal Academy Clacton, make-up plastic shields for us. It was so lovely of them to do that for us. Families have been sending their heartfelt thanks daily for taking care of their loved ones; this is a great boost for the staff.
Do you have a personal message for your team?
The Clacton team are all amazing – you have all gone the extra mile to make sure our customers have their care needs met on a daily basis, without fail. You genuinely care and I am very proud of you all.Back
