Next in the ‘Spotlight On’ series, Leyla Durrant, a carer in the Fakenham areas was interviewed by Care Coordinator, Craig Smith:
Q1: What is your name and job title?
My name is Leyla Durrant; I am a Care Worker for the Fakenham area.
Q2: What is your job role at Manorcourt Homecare and when did you start working here?
I started working for Manorcourt Homecare in March 2020. My role is enabling elderly and vulnerable people to live as fulfilling lives as possible. This is done by assisting people to get washed and dressed ready for the day, promoting their independence, and supporting people with day to day tasks.
Q3: In the last three months, what have you enjoyed most about your job. Is there a specific example that has stood out?
I enjoy every aspect of my job, particularly when I have made a service user smile and made their day a little bit brighter.
Q4: What is your favourite part of your working day?
My favourite part of the working day is all of it! especially the end of the shift and knowing that I’ve helped people and they appreciate the care they have received. This feedback and feeling is what makes me want to go back to work each day.
Q5: What is the most challenging part of your working day, how do you get through this?
Since March, every day at work has been challenging due to the Coronavirus pandemic. However, I have gotten through this due to the amazing support from the office staff and all of the other carers!
Q6: outside of work, what is your favourite thing to do?
Outside of work one of my favourite things to do is socialise with my friends and go out to eat.Back
