Harlow community carers voted ‘carers of the year’

4th March 2021

Three members of staff at the Harlow branch of Manorcourt Homecare have been voted as ‘carers of the year’ in a recognition project led by branch manager Adrianna Tevfik, which encouraged those using its care-at-home services to nominate a carer who has gone ‘above and beyond’ during 2020.

The team at Manorcourt Homecare provides a range of services to members of the community in the Harlow, Nazeing and Waltham Abbey areas of Essex.  Team members help people to remain independent in their homes by providing a range of care services from befriending and shopping to personal care and help with medication. The team also offers a bespoke 24-hour live-in care service.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the carers have been working tirelessly to keep service users well supported whilst remaining as safe as possible.

Adrianna Tevfik, branch manager at the Harlow branch asked for staff and service users to vote for their carer of the year for 2020. Following feedback, Adrianna announced that carers Denise Sweeney, Lorraine Mannifield and Jodie Collins were voted as the team’s top carers, each receiving a personalised award and a box of chocolates as a prize.

Some of the comments received from services users and their families included:  “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the staff for your continuing support of Mum, especially during these difficult times, it is greatly appreciated.”

“My brother and sister are truly grateful for everything that you and the team did for dad during his brief spell with you. Your carers personified what caring people should be and we felt fortunate to have found you all. We would be grateful if you could pass our thanks on.”Talking about the initiative Adrianna said, “All of my team works very hard to provide high quality care, supporting customers and colleagues; they are focused on helping the people of Harlow, Nazeing and Waltham Abbey to stay as happy and independent at home as possible.

“This recognition was my way of celebrating and showcasing everyone’s fantastic efforts and I’d like to thank everyone for their absolute dedication throughout recent months, which have been difficult for all, and specifically congratulate Denise, Lorraine and Jodie for receiving such lovely individual feedback. We all greatly appreciate the ongoing efforts shown by you and your colleagues.”
