Award categories and briefs
Apprentice/Learner of the Year
This award is open to any individual who is undertaking an apprentice scheme or on a training scheme. In addition, this can include individuals who are learning new programmes/systems or working towards a formal qualification. This category is looking for nominees where through learning and development, they have made a difference to the quality of services and resident/customer experience.
Making a Difference
An individual that has been recognised for demonstrating going the extra mile to assist their team/residents/service users or members of the public. This category is to acknowledge someone who is growing within the business, showing true loyalty and commitment. This individual will be a ‘go to’ person acknowledged for their inspiration and encouragement to others.
The Homecare Co-ordinator Award
This award will be given to the homecare co-ordinator who demonstrates their skills daily in co-ordinating their care team efficiently and effectively. The individual will be a motivator within their team as well as a support figure. The individual will always reflect their desire to have their clients at the heart of their service.
This award is open to any individual who demonstrates strong leadership within their daily role. This individual will show a clear commitment in improving the care and support within their team. The successful individual will show their leadership qualities by reflecting on what could be better in supporting others to bring around change. They should be accountable for their actions, have strong decision-making skills and be an inspiration to those around them.
Community Engagement Award
This award will celebrate the contribution an individual from your service, or your service as a whole, makes to the local community. They will work hard at connecting their service with members of the community and help to build long-lasting links. They will seek to change people’s perceptions of our services by encouraging people to take part in community-led activities. They will be able to demonstrate initiatives that have been introduced that are innovative and successful in achieving community engagement.
Chef/Cook of the Year
This award is open to all kitchen team members. The individual must be actively promoting and supporting their team in ensuring residents receive a consistent positive dining experience. The team member must be part of offering a varied menu especially for those who require special diets. The highest standards of catering hygiene and environmental hygiene must be adhered to at all times and evident. Shortlisted nominated individuals must be prepared to join others in a professional kitchen for a ‘cook off’ with the executive team being present and judging on the day.
Carer of the Year
This category is aimed at recognising individuals who consistently provide these highest standards of care. They will understand and demonstrate treating each person as an individual by providing a personalised service. Those nominated will be able to evidence the promotion of resident independence and be known to go ‘the extra mile’ for the benefit of residents/service users.
Ancillary Worker Award
This award will recognise an individual who provides an excellent, person centred approach to residents, demonstrating dignity and respect through ancillary services, (for example, kitchen assistants, handy persons, domestic and laundry assistants). The successful individual will consistently use their initiative and take pride in their work, enhance the service and support their colleagues.
This award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate a new member of staff who has commenced employment with the group since January 2018. They have shown a good understanding of their role and have been able to demonstrate their ability to transfer existing skills. They have shown an enthusiasm to learn and develop and through their area of work made a positive impact, benefitting our services and the business as a whole.
Supporting Our Services Award
This award recognises an individual or team who work in a support service that enables the smooth running of the organisation such as finance, governance, HR, marketing, business development or operational teams. They will have made improvements in their area, going above and beyond to provide an excellent support service to the group.
